Yoshimi Nagatome

Executive Vice President

Born in Sakai City, Osaka in 1974. When he was in the fourth grade, his parents bought him an MSX, a standardized computer system that allowed him to create his own games. He learned programming from his cousin to create games and experienced firsthand the convenience and possibilities of computers, but ended up playing on the NES, which was a big boom at the time.

He entered Seifu Nankai High School, a preparatory school in Osaka, but he devoted himself to the Shorinji Kempo club, saying, “I can’t be the best in my studies. He won prizes at every regional and prefectural tournament, and was runner-up in the demonstration division at the Kinki Tournament, where he also served as captain of the club. He was the captain of the club. He was an all-five student in physical education for three years.

In 1994, he entered the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Waseda University. He learned the basics of programming through programming languages such as assembler and Fortran, but was not interested in programming itself. During the summer vacation of his sophomore year, his adventurous spirit was tickled and he decided to go on his dream trip to Europe alone, wandering in 6 countries without once encountering any danger. This was an opportunity for him to gain confidence in his own ability to communicate in English.

In his third year of college, he started using Unix, a kind of operating system, in class, but he became tired of the difficulty of using it and wondered if the interface could be made easier to understand. This experience led to the development of a Linux management product, which he later launched as a start-up company.

In his junior year, he found a notice on a bulletin board at his university that HENNGE’s predecessor, Horizon Digital Enterprises, was looking for part-time computer tutors. At the time, part-time jobs where computer skills could be utilized were rare, so he applied for the job and was shocked to see Ogura and his peers running a business. Gradually, he began to get involved in the operation of the company, and with the belief that a student with computer knowledge could make it work, he became Executive Vice President at the time of the company’s conversion to a joint stock company in 1997.

In his first year with the company, he demonstrated his sales skills by selling more than 50 Linux systems a year. He was delighted to have companies use products that had never existed in the world before, and to have them say, “Now it’s more convenient,” right in front of my eyes. In addition to his work in the marketing field, from around 2011 he worked hard to commercialize the HDE One (now HENNGE One) cloud security service. He contributes to the growth of the company’s cloud business.

He is proud that the strength of HENNGE products lies in their consistent concept of “making difficult and difficult-to-use technology easy to use. In the future, he would like to CHALLENGE the company into capital alliances with startup companies and new businesses to further grow the company.

His hobbies are playing baseball and swimming with his children. The funniest mistake in his life was when he drank sake all the way through with a sales representative for business entertainment, and only one of them went down, and Ogura had to take him back to the company (he has no memory of it).
