Official Statement regarding HENNGE GIP and COVID-192020.04.06

During these times of uncertainty, our heart goes out to everyone who has been greatly affected by this ongoing situation. We are all in this together and we will get through this together.

The unique part of HENNGE Global Internship Program (GIP) has been the experience of working in Japan and communicating with people from different backgrounds at work. At this time where social distancing and self-isolation are being encouraged, we are aware that this will greatly affect the experience of our interns who are flying in from all corners of the world.

As much as we value the experience the internship provides for our young software engineers, we at HENNGE prioritize the health and wellbeing of our interns as well as our candidates. To show you that you have our full support, we want you to know we are doing our best to ensure that we can balance both by adjusting our internship program to the ongoing situation.

How is HENNGE dealing with the situation?

At HENNGE, we have made adjustments to our working style by encouraging all the members to work from home. This means that our current interns are also working remotely from their accommodation. This is also the first time in our GIP history that we are having interns work remotely and we are pleased to announce that so far, the progress has been smooth.

Is the internship still happening?

As the situation in Japan remains uncertain, we have closed our Batch 3 and Batch 4 for 2020. Although we are still accepting applicants for Batch 5 and onward, we would like to encourage all applicants to be flexible in their batch choices in case we might have to close the latter batches due to the virus situation in Japan getting worse. Any further changes in the batches will be announced by 1st July, 2020 on our website. In light of the batch cancelations, we have been asking our incoming interns to choose new batches and we would like to sincerely thank you for all your patience and cooperation.

Can I still apply for the future batches?

Since HENNGE GIP is open all year round, you can apply for the program anytime. We are still accepting applications for our future slots.

How can I stay updated with HENNGE GIP?

We are observing the situation not only in Japan but also the rest of the world closely as we have interns and candidates from all over the world. Any future changes to our internship schedule will be announced through our email and our pages on social networking sites such as Linkedin, Facebook, and Medium.
