HENNGE Boosts Childcare Support with New Comeback Promotion Allowance Up to ¥1.2 M2024.09.27

HENNGE K.K. (headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo, Representative Director, Chief Executive Officer: Kazuhiro Ogura) announces enhanced childcare support regulations, effective September 1st. These changes aim to support employees taking maternity/childcare leave and returning to work, empowering them to balance work and family life and promoting a more proactive and fulfilling work environment.

The key changes in the regulations

- Newly established Comeback Promotion Allowance
When an employee returns to work after giving birth, and the conditions are met, a monthly allowance of 100,000 yen for up to 12 months (a maximum total of 1.2 million yen) is granted.

- Newly established Comeback Supporters Allowance
When an employee, regardless of gender, returns to work from maternity/childcare leave, their colleagues in the same section are granted an allowance of 30,000 yen.

- Flexible working hours adapted to childcare shortened-time workers
Employees who have shortened working hours for childcare, previously exempted from the flextime system, can now use it.

- Complete elimination of restrictions on the number of times childcare leave
Employees may take as many childcare leaves as needed until their child turns two years old.
They can freely design not only how many times they get the leaves but also when and how long they get them.

The backgrounds and expected effects of the changes
HENNGE's code of conduct, HENNGE Way, champions diversity and empowers passionate individuals, fostering a proactive and flexible work environment. The culture has led to high rates of maternity/childcare leave usage and subsequent return to work. As of 2022, HENNGE has achieved a 100% maternity leave utilization rate for birthing parents, a 75% childcare leave utilization rate for non-birthing parents, and a 100% return-to-work rate following these leaves*. These new policy enhancements aim to further support employees in realizing their full potential, free from anxiety, regardless of gender or life stage.

- About Comeback Promotion Allowance
HENNGE recognizes that employees may face challenges returning to work at their desired time. These challenges can include securing daycare placements or coordinating leave with partners. Especially in the dynamic SaaS industry, extended absences often require significant effort to regain professional momentum. Furthermore, from a company perspective, more opportunities for skilled employees can promote business growth and create a competitive advantage.
The allowance empowers employees by providing financial assistance to access support options that facilitate their return to work, leading to faster and larger-scale company growth.

Unlike allowances restricted to specific uses, such as those solely for babysitting services, the Comeback Promotion Allowance offers complete flexibility. That allows recipients to address their unique circumstances and overcome individual challenges.

- About Comeback Supporters Allowance
Employees returning to work from maternity/childcare leave often face various issues, including changes in their environment and difficulty balancing work and life. Understanding and support from their colleagues greatly help them resume their work smoothly and continue to achieve their goals. While HENNGE has an ingrained culture where members usually respect mutual support regardless of whether they are caring for children or not, members with childcare tend to need more support from others. The Comeback Supporters Allowance aims to reduce the psychological burden on supported employees and further raise awareness of respect for diverse values and work styles, involving employees around the returners and even the whole company.

- About flexible working hours adapted to childcare shortened-time workers
Offering flexible working hours to employees with childcare responsibilities, including those working reduced hours, increases productivity and efficiency. The flexibility allows employees to manage unexpected childcare needs, such as daycare pickups or doctor's appointments, minimizing disruption to their work schedule and improving their overall work-life balance.

- About the complete elimination of restrictions on the number of times childcare leave
As the environment surrounding childcare has become increasingly diverse, each employee has a different demand and needs flexible support to handle their situation. The completely on-demand childcare leave allows employees to freely design their lives with family, going above and beyond standard legal requirements.
